Ahmed al-Thulthi
Where Is Ahmed Al-Thulthi"?

Credible sources of the Libyan League for Human Rights (LLHR) have reported on the execution in summary carried out by the Libyan authorities of Ahmed 'Abd al-Qadir al-Tulthi. As the brother of the political opponent, Ahmed 'Abd al-Qadir al-Thulthi, and one of the founders and treasurer of the American Libyan Freedom Alliance (ALFA), I demand from the Libyan Authorities, and in particular from the Secretary of Public Security and the Secretary of Justice and including the Director of Abu Salim Prison, a response to the following inquiries:

1. With regard to the political prisoner, Ahmed 'Abd al-Qadir al-Thulthi, born in 1955 in Benghazi, Libya, who has been detained since April 1986 and who has been accused of political opposition activities, I demand to know whether he is he alive or dead?
In the event Mr. al-Thulthi is living, I demand from the above-named authorities, to permit his wife, his aged mother, and his son who is now a university student and was born a few months at the time of his father's detention, to now visit him which has been denied for nearly ten years, and to be assured of their own safety during such visit
In the event that Mr. al-Thulthi has been killed and is now deceased, the responsible authorities shall forthwith deliver his body to his family with a written explanation surrounding the circumstances of his death.

2. According to a report from Amnesty Internmational related to their visit to Libya, documented under AI Index: MDE 19/005/2004 (public) news service No:047: "Amnesty International delegates asked to meet a number of prisoners. The delegates were able to conduct prolonged individual interviews with several such prisoners, including in Abu Salim prison in Tripoli. However, it remains unclear why additional visits were unavailable or denied, including that for long-term prisoner Ahmed 'Abd al-Qadir al-Thulthi, arrested in 1986 and met by Amnesty International in 1988. His family has received no news about him since 1996".

I repeat: "Where is Ahmed al-Thulthi?" My requests are legitimate demands granted by local and international laws and all humankind.

I also urge the Gaddafi Charitable Organization, currently led by Saif Al-Islam, to follow up on this case to expedite a rapid and decisive response.
