Today [ 8 May 2008 ] is the 24rd anniversary of the 8th of May 1984 when some members of the National Front for the Salvation of Libya " al-Jabha al-Wataniya li-Inqath Libya" ( which was established abroad on 7 October 1981 and lead by Dr. Mohammed al-Mgariaf ) enterd Libya in an attempt to overthrow Libyan leader Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi's regeme.

Some of those who participated in that attempt were killed while fighting government troops in Bab al-Aziziyah where Libyan leader Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi's headquarters are. Government reports admitted that there were a fight between the NFSL fighters and government troops but suggested that the fight happened outside Qadhafi's residence.

The following is a list of some of those who were killed fighting government troops in Tripoli: Ahmed Hwas - Abdulnasir Aldehra - Majdi Alshwaihdi - Khalid Moammar - Yahya Moammar - Mohamed Alroaith - Salim Alghalali [see photos above.]

After the 8th of May incident many NFSL members were arrested, tried on Libyan TV and hanged in public [see photos below.]
