Forever Yours

Soon my love I shall return, soon I will be there
I will be standing outside the corner store
five blocks away, from your brother’s house
the very place, where we‘ve met once before.

I will know when you are near
when my eyes catch the reflection of your glow
and the gentle spring wind begins to dance
with the maple leaves in celebration of your coming

Yes I will know.
When the ebony locks, of your hair sway side to side
as you glance each way, returning a smile or two
to hopeless young men, as they whisper your name

I will wait at the foot of the hill
restless heart, nervously pretending to read
Can’t see the printed word
An old woman, a thing of classical beauty
holding tight on her lover’s hand
a wonderful sight

My eyes caught her eyes, as she winked at me
with reassuring smile
as though she said, hang in dear lad
soon you shall reap your rewards
soon you will delight your lips
your trembling hands will be guided
to touch and feel the smoothness of
mature peaches, perfectly shaped pears

You shall taste the sweetness of heavenly nectar
as we did many springs before
be patient still, just for a little while
soon you shall quench your drying lips
with the dew of joy

Delicate hands touching me
fingers fanned at my lips
shimmering hair became undone
eyes a float, and a swift embrace
tingling spine

Hold me tight, never let go
hands waiving, smiling faces, cheering loud
having come this far my love
I am for ever yours, and you for ever mine.
