Listen To Our Stories

On September 1, 1969, a newsreel read on the Radio “the overthrow of the Libyan monarchy without bloodshed” and the naissance of a republic of horror. The message of "victory of the Al Fateh revolution, in the name of freedom, social justice and unity" was read Muammar al Qaddafi was the inception of nightmares to come and establishment of the reign of terror that plagued Libya for forty years. This was one of the most dreadful epoch and defining moments in the Libyan history. A well-executed plan designed by Qaddafi and encouraged by the Soviet Union to alter the power balance in the Middle East and mainly to avert any expansion by America. The coup d'etat by Qaddafi took the very liberty our fathers, forefathers and many Libyans fought for, the many who died to see sovereign and independent Libya, only years later to witness a tyrant and authoritarian regime bent to destroy every possible impediment to its totalitarian regime. Qaddafi and his cronies in the military transformed Libya into autocrat state, distorted its what very little sovereignty it has, and the semi-democratic monarchic laws by instituting the largest secret police per capita in the world to monitor any dissent, round up opponents, prosecute them in military courts, and then execute them in public to install a permanent fear. Qaddafi squandered Libya’s resources financing terror around the global, and became the Soviet Union’s pawn and the point man to agonize Russia’s foes which were the US and NATO countries. Qaddafi tore down all of the Libyan educational system and sought to be an Arab philosopher, a modern Muslim, defender of the Arab masses, but the truth is Qaddafi is a charlatan to the core, he has no formal or very little education at all if any besides reading Carl Marx, or listening to Nasar speeches, Qaddafi is a total delusionist, and maniac. Qaddafi feels he is the true Messiah who will save the world, yet he can not even grasp the basic protocols of civilized nations, let alone respect their entities. Qaddafi’s hands are bloody, Libya’s capital square soiled with the innocent blood of the young men whose only crimes is to speak their minds, and they faced Qaddafi’s killing machines and the world stood by while the mothers wept silently, hiding their grieve, to avoid the wrath of Qaddafi reign of terror. To that end many Libyan fled to the neighboring countries and sought asylum in far off places, they left by air, sea, car, and many by foot to seek refuge from Qaddafi’s autocratic regime. Qaddafi destroyed every possible democratic vestige, shattered the very hopes and dreams so many died for fighting the Italian, Turks, and Arabs occupation for years, and for a change, a reprieve after WW II Libya was granted independence brought about some sense of tranquility and the Libyans at last saw the light at the end of the tunnel and their human rights begun to take shape small yet gradual, yes it was not the optimal condition, but the paths were opened and the trend to modernize Libya took small but very measured. During the King people felt they were slowly but surely free to pursue their god given rights, alas, the King was not the prefect medium for a democratic society, but the Libyan people of every strip felt they were participants in his pursuit of modernizing the society in Libya, and people were leading normal lives. Then on that dark day September 1, 1969 even though the sky seemed clear and shinny as it could be, then all of the sudden reign of terror embarked on, Qaddafi and his henchman instigated an air of suspicion, people started having a misgivings just about everything, have reservations even about their brothers and sisters; Qaddafi formed the largest spy network that is rivaled only by former east Germany Stasi and the Russian KBG spy network. Qaddafi beefed up his spy network with his own tribesmen and his adherent followers, Qaddafi gave orders to detain, arrest without any cause, imprison, and kill on the spot. Qaddafi took pleasure in shoring his henchmen to execute his opponents in the public square sewing the ultimate fear. The Libyan people watched in horror the public hanging and shooting and went into total numb and felt helpless. The world watched Qaddafi public execution and stood by, and some participated in locating, imprisoning, and transporting innocent Libyans into the hands of Qaddafi for ransoms. The Arabs watched and were thrilled and ecstatic seeing Libyans hanged in public, and please let me say this again many Arabs were elated to see “the dogs” hanged. I was not disappointed in noticing their reaction but I felt why should I ever come to their help?
Qaddafi used the Palestinians grievances as lighting rode to sway any attention from his downright slaughtering Libyans whenever the occasion arise, Qaddafi use Arabism as snarling and beguiling young men to do his dirty work, yes he paid them handsome salaries and lots of perks to follow his orders carrying out terrorist acts wherever his modus operandi was/is. I don’t need to chronicle these terrorists’ acts where hundreds and thousands were killed to sue Qaddafi desires. Let me spare you the details and the painful memory.
The west begun signaling their willingness to deal with known terrorist regardless of the consensus of the browbeaten and totally crestfallen Libyan people who if were given a chance to vote; they will overwhelmingly depose Qaddafi and hang him in the main square for all to see and witness the end to tyranny in their homeland, and to free them from the nightmares they have been enduring and living under for the past forty years.
To this end we all should martial all the support of all Americans, Europeans, and all freedom lovers worldwide and especially the young people leadership by encouraging them to convey to them about this awful cancer amongst them, it’s the Qaddafi virus we all need to be disinfected from. We can not remain passive any longer while “the western democracies” throws the Libyan people into the abyss, by endangering our path to rid Libya of this dreadful affliction, and bring about sovereignty to long sought after people, and independence through direct democracy.
I will never reckon this reign as the representative of the Libyan people, I shall put all of my means to see that the truth be told wherever a soul willing to listen to our stories and see our plight for what it really is.
Yes I have been warned that I will be next to dealt with.
I’m not afraid nor will I ever cave in to threats. Let me say this again coercion never worked with me. I live to be free and I will die free.

Raymond
