The Libyan Doctors Society
Achievement award for 2008
The LDS achievement award for 2008 was awarded to Professor Mahdi Elkhammas for his unique work in medicine as a transplant surgeon, founder and editor of Ibnosina Medical Association, one of the founders and now deputy editor of Libyan Journal of Medicine, his support and help of Libyan and non-Libyan patients and colleagues and for his over one hundred publications in very well respected international medical journals.
This award is the first award to be funded by the LDS group and it is our pleasure to award it to Professor Mahdi Elkhammas, who was nominated for it by LDS members. It was announced at the end of the 4th LDS annual meeting, held on 22nd November 2008, Chorley-UK. A symbolic present has been sent to professor Mahdi Ellkhammas from all members who attended this meeting.
Congratulations to Professor Mahdi Ellkhammas and we hope he will continue his support to his patients and colleagues. LDS will continue to recognize high achievement among Libyan doctors working in Libya or abroad, by honouring them with this annual award. We would like to encourage colleagues in the medical field to start sending nominations for 2009 via the LDS website.
