Shlebek et al published a paper on a study of over 1000 patients titled "Venous thromboprophylaxis in UK medical inpatients". This paper was received with a lot of media publicity and cover as it is looking to ways of preventing DVT in hospitalised medical patient. It has proposed changes which will improve the implementation of VTE prophylaxis in medical inpatients and therefore reduce deaths from pulmonary embolism. Dr Shlebek was interviewed on the BBC TV main news on the 1st on November on the breakfast and One O’clock news. He was also interviewed on several radio stations and news agencies including Reuters, BBC 1 radio and BBC Essex.
The Libyan Doctors Society congratulates Dr Shlebak and his team for this fine work. This will add to history of Libyan Doctors who are achieving and continue to work hard to achieve to the highest levels. It is another achievement by one of Libyan doctors that we all feel very proud off.
Dr Shlebak will participate on the Paltalk Chat rooms on 20/11/2005 to talk about his work and other safety aspects related to blood disorders in particular of blood transfusion. It will be important for Libyan patients and Libyan colleagues to learn from his experience.
