LAFA - USA Announcement

The Libyan American Friendship Association - USA, which was founded in 1995, will be closing and ceasing its operations effective July 1, 2005 due to lack of funding and being unable to implement any of our programs and activities.

LAFA was founded on the principal that the Libyan and American people must work together and advocated lifting the wall that isolated them for over 20 years and working together to promote people-to-people relations in areas of education, health, culture and arts, sports and other areas of interest. The Board of Directors and other volunteers have worked very hard, spent numerous hours and used their own resources trying to implement these programs but unfortunately it takes two sides and we were unsuccessful.

I would like to take this opportunity to give our sincere thanks and appreciation to the board members and volunteers. A special thanks to:
Ambassador John McDonald (IMTD)

Dr. Daniel Rainey
Mr. John Fuller
Dr. Edward Haynes
Rev. Sel Harris
Dr. Ronald See
Ambassador Michael Ussery
Mr. Carl W. Bradshaw (Lions Pride Development)
and many others that we cannot list

LAFA-USA is not affiliated with LAFA-Libya and our decision to close does not affect their operations.

If any one has any questions or needs to contact LAFA-USA, the e-mail address will be active for a while. Please feel free to e-mail me at lafa@lafa.org

Thank you for your patronage,

Asiddeg Al-Jarani
Chairman of the Board
