|Letter To All Libyans|
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatulla,
I am a Libyan American born and raised in the United States by Libyan parents. I have been following the postings in this page for a pretty long time. I have found that almost everyone that posts messages here is trying to show that they are the most patriotic and brave Libyan ever, and that if there were just 10 more people like him/her in the world, then Libya wouldn't be in the shape it is.
I think that is the center of our problems to begin with. "I am right and everyone else is wrong" and "If I wanted your opinion, I would have asked for it", and "Don't brainwash me with your ideas, I know what I'm talking about" seems to be the mentality with us. I think if Libyans don't get together and share their different perspectives and viewpoints, not necessarily accepting all perspectives as legitimate, but at least filtering and weighing the ideas with an open mind, I think we will be in a much better position.
This closed minded mentality is all too reminiscent of the maniac that calls himself "The Leader" that so many of us would rather call "The Idiot". If we continue in the mindset of "The Idiot", then don't complain when "The Idiot" and his sons are on our necks for another 36 years. But our earth shattering emails prove that we're too brave to let that happen, right?
