Husien Al-Jedik: Another Libyan Martyr

He was 25 years old, died in front of his family. Husien Souf Salem Al-Jedik, the nephew of the late Khalil Al-Jedik, from Baniwalid Libya, murdered by Gaddafi's agents in front of his house in cold blood on Sept. 13, 2002. The Gaddafi family escalated their attack and pressure on the city of Benwalid recently for unknown reasons.

After the destruction of the grave of Mohammad Al-Zubidi, and detention of scores of youth, The Gaddafi clan decided to destroy the houses of the relatives of the slain officers of 1993, Jabhatul-Ingad attempted coup. They sent bulldozers and heavy machines to Al-Jedik family houses in the Al-Dhahra district of Baniwalid. This was faced with some resistance from the local population. Husien Al-Jadik was there and when he refused to evict his family home the fascist regime shot him in front of his mother and siblings. He succumbed to his death immediately in a hail of bullets, may Allah bless his soul and accept him in the heavens.

Husien was a brave young Libyan man. He stood strongly in the face of Gaddafi' terror campaign. In 1996, Gaddafi tried relentlessly to persuade the Baniwalid residents to carryout the killing of their children on his behalf, and assigned The Brigadier Ali Alfaituri, to implement his orders. This puppet forced hundreds of people to a series of gatherings. During one of these meetings he started to despise the Officers by calling them names and saying disgusting lies to minimize their status in the eyes of the audience. Husien walked onto the stage towards this traitor, Ali Al-faituri, and slapped him on the face. He spent one year in prison.

Brothers and sisters, the resilient town of Baniwalid has been under constant terror since 1993, which has intensified recently. Some families, as Al-Jedik and Al-Aihurie, have suffered enormous loss of their beloved ones. Many families have been exiled and the Gaddafi regime has threatened any other Libyan towns who dare to help them.

I Plead to all of you Libyan fellows, show some sympathy to those family in anyway you like. I beg to stop at least the unrealistic appreciation to this terrorist regime for releasing few Libyan hostages. We should act above the regionalism mentality, and show some support to those families. This psychopath thug does not spare anyone of us.

I was surprised at the silence of a lot of Libyan organizations such as human rights groups and opposition parties. I could not hear the voice of Jabhatul-Ingad, the group that Khalil and Ramadan belonged to. I am amazed at the silence of a lot of good Libyan writers regarding the unfolding tragedy of our beloved Baniwalid. I think the terrorist Gaddafi, has played very well the "divide and rule" games. Brothers and sisters let us prove he is wrong at least by praying together, May Allah help our beloved Libya and accept Husien in his heavens.
