To Whom It May Concern
To whom it may concern,
It is an extremely pleasant moment to finally come across a call from one of
the Libyan men for a gathering of all free Libyans to discuss their future.
Such a unifying step should have taken a place from long time ago to drift
all the efforts together towards solidarity. The Libyan case until recently
has been ignored for the longest time for some whatever reason. Recently,
Libyans smelled the odor of freedom and felt the winds of change. What an
ecstasy to witness the vividness of our dreams come true with the complete
fall of the regime in Libya and what a whimsy of pride it must feel after a
long time of agony. With all these cheerful feelings bundled in my heart
and soul for the change I see is upcoming among the opposition plane, I
still helplessly find my self a pit worried.
I keep digging harder in to my soul trying to find the source of anxiousness
to treat it. I keep looking closer in to all the announcements of other
people posted on various sites. I keep observing silently all the movements
and tactics made by several Libyans towards outside organizations whom some
of which might have a hand in the wind of change. Suddenly, I figured out
the roots of my apprehensiveness and the cause of my concerns.
There are two separate aspects causing the problem. The first aspect is all
these hidden agendas carried by all the different factors of the equation.
There are many agendas hidden among different Libyan organizations on one
side not to mention the hidden goals by other superior outsider
establishments whom following a very long term strategy and objectives and
which of whom will play a role in the change of our future weather we like
it or not. Furthermore, we must not forget all the regional roles carried
by some main players whom must benefit from the Libyan wealth and will keep it
that way for a long time.
It will be disastrous if our representatives focus only on these aspects of
the equation looking to accomplish their own goals and fail to remember the
real needs of the Libyan people inside and outside Libya. Even more, the
idea of ignoring Libyans inside Libya who must play a role in the change
because of their backgrounds, their knowledge of the people, and above all
their right as Libyans to take part of control in ruling their country would
be imprudent on our side. Not to forget, that this might very well be one
of the only opportunities for all of us to gather the efforts, unite the
voice, and take the initiative to forcefully take part of the change. If we
do not practice the ultimate discipline in our leadership skills which
according to almost all Management scalars in the eastern and western world
start at recognizing our goal, prioritizing our objectives, clarifying our
vision, uniting our efforts, wising up our decisions, then we will certainly
fail once again.
The second aspect of my worry and the most important one is that what if
this coming wind that we are all feeling is just another PAN AM that will
extend the life of the regime for another 10 to 15 years. If you look
closely at what the regime has been doing lately on both levels regionally
and internationally, they endeavor to rebuild strong ties with the
neighboring countries which they have succeeded drastically. The more
monetary rewards the regime pumps into the so called African Union and the
region, the more support he gets. Internationally, we see stronger bonds
with Italy, France, England, and Bulgaria with more to come. Logically, it
doesn’t seem like it’s the death of a regime at this time on the contrary it
seems like its an extension to it is validity. In the beginning of the year
supposedly there will be elections in Libya according to bold Saif!! I
wonder if that is another game of the tricks played on our people!!!!! I
hope not.
All that I am trying to say here is:
IT IS VERY WISE TO UNITE AND FORCE OUR WAY INTO THE CHANGE BUT WE MUST BE
WISE BY DISREGARDING PERSONAL AGENDAS FOR THE TIME BEING, LOOK AFTER THE
PUBLIC BENEFIT, SET OUR GOAL, MOVE TOWARDS IT, FORGET OUR DIFFERENCES FOR
LIBYA’S SAKE.
