Subject: Detention of 4 Jornalists in Benghazi - Libya
The Libyan government leading a fierce campaign to stifle freedom of expression and the attack on the freedom of opinion this campaign started at 24th of January by screening all independent news websites operating from outside Libya, and was blocked the (Youtube, and there are ongoing operations to call the journalists and interrogated after the formation of a new body called the (Press Deputy) established for the purpose of threatening journalists and media professionals who publish reports and investigations on the prevalence of corruption in state institutions.
Today evening, the Libyan government arrested all journalist team members of this program (Good Evening Benghazi) that includes Mr. Ahamed Almgasabi and Mr. Khaled Ali, Mr. Muftah El Gabaily , and Mr. Suleiman El Gabaily According to reliable sources the head of General security (Brigade, Abdulfatah Younis) who issue this decision. Currently they all detained individually in single cells. Fear of torture and ill-treatment , lack of proper investigation harassment all are expected
The program "Good evening, Benghazi “ known for exposing corruption, was cancelled and turned off the director and supervisor of the program. Lead this campaign what so called „Revolutionary working groups", these groups well known by perpetrators of the attacks and executions of opponents in the eighties and nineties, and now trying to restore the dominance by intimidation of the journalists.
In regard to this issue, both Human Rights and Solidarity (HRS) and Human Rights Watch (HRW) Published press releases. so please your cooperation to denounce what is happening now correspond to violations of the silence by the media and satellite television channels that avoid talking about the situation in Libya, because of the carrot and intimidation, as well as ignorance of human rights organizations for what is happening violations in Libya.
